Day 1: Train Journey to Udupi on Konkan Railways.
Pick up from Goa hotels at 11:30am.Drive to the Railway Station to board the train .Train departs Margao at 1:45pm and arrives in Udupi at 6:30pm. Then a short drive to the hotel which is 10 mins away.
Konkan railway which runs down the west coast of India connecting the port cities of Mumbai and Mangalore. Although the British Empire built 40,000 miles of track across this vast sub-continent between, they stayed clear of this narrow, boggy strip of land as it was such a treacherous and difficult environment in which to build a railway. As a result Western India remained undeveloped until over 100 years later when a brave Indian engineer took on the daunting task. Known as 'The People's Railway' it opened in January 1998, finally connecting the remote villages along the route to the outside world.
Day 2: Agumbe View Point , Sakrebailu Elephant Rehabilitation , Tyavarekoppa Lion and Tiger Rehabilitation, Udupi Sri Krishna Matha.
Wake up call at 5am. Board the coach at 5:30am. Spend the rest of the day visiting these sightseeing places .
Agumbe is one of the places in the state that receives the highest rainfall from the south-west monsoon (June to October). The heavy rainfall has contributed to the growth of dense forests around Agumbe and greatly helped paddy cultivation and areca nut plantations. Agumbe Ghat Road was built by the British in 1839. It covers 14 hairpin bends to reach the topmost point and has an eagle-eye view of the entire deep valley below.
Sakrebyle Elephant Camp is a forest camp that houses elephants from all over Karnataka that need proper attention and training. The elephants may require training or attention due to a number of reasons, like illness, behavioral issues, malnourishment, etc. Wild rogue elephant that are uncontrollable are also brought in for training at this camp. The large animals in the camp are trained and cared after by skilled mahouts. Elephants of all ages are typically trained in the camp. The camp is situated adjacent to the Shettihalli Wildlife Sanctuary in Shimoga, and it is considered to be the best camp for training elephants in the state. The camp is maintained by the Karnataka Forest Department. The Sakrebyle Elephant Camp attracts wildlife enthusiasts and tourists alike. It is one of those ecotourism centers in Karnataka that offers general people an opportunity to look at the huge tuskers from close quarters in the vicinity of the River Tunga. The main attraction of the camp is the interaction sessions allowed between the visitors and the elephants. Such a session can last for up to 2 to 3 hours. Visitors have to reach the camp early in the morning to be able to watch the elephants being bathed in the water of the Tunga River by the mahouts. They can also watch the big animals enjoying their drink and then proceeding towards their feeding area. Sakrebyle Elephant Camp is a must-visit travel destination.
Tyavarekoppa Lion & Tiger Safari was established in 1988, initially in an area of 27.50 ha with three safari enclosures, namely Lion, Tiger, and Herbivorous, and now the whole zoo and safari area is extended to 195.00 ha. Tyavarekoppa Safari Park is the place to rehabilitate the lions and tigers that are rescued across India. Despite the name, the lion and tiger are neither the only animals here, nor are they the only big cats here. Visitors can catch glimpses of leopards, sloth bears, deer, and many other species of animals. Tyavarekoppa Lion & Tiger Safari will be a dynamic institute for an exciting conservation exhibit that inspires people to love, care for, and protect wild habitat. To inspire the public to value the presence of living beings in their lives, provide an enjoyable educational experience about wildlife.
Udupi Shri Krishna Matha (Temple) where a 400-year cultural festival takes place. This is a special event where the Deity is invited out of the Temple and is taken on a Chariot ride. Hundreds of people wait patiently for the Deity to leave his Temple, then when everything is in place, he takes part in a pleasure ride with all his Devotees. The Chariot, also known as Ratha, is a vehicle made of wood and is manually pulled along by human beings, elephants or horses. The Chariot event takes place to impress Lord Krishna, who, in return, is said to fulfill his wishes and bring unity among the people. Join in the fun, pull the ropes & bring Lord Krishna into your hearts.
Day 3: Train Journey to Goa on Konkan Railways.
After breakfast board the coach at 7am and drive to the Railway Station to board the train.Train departs Udupi at 7:30am and arrives in Margao at 1pm.Drop off at Goa hotels.
